Bailey Zappe replaces Mac Jones to start second half

The Patriots didn’t have a quarterback to start Sunday’s game against the Giants, but managed one at halftime.

Mack Jones remained the starter two weeks after Patriots head coach Bill Belichick refused to name his starting quarterback, and he threw two interceptions that helped the Giants take a 7-0 halftime lead at MetLife Stadium. Both picks came on terrible throws and wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster could be seen having a heated exchange with wide receivers coach Troy Brown at his side after the second.

That led to the Patriots turning to Bailey Zappé after receiving the kickoff to start the second half. Zapp last replaced Jones in a Week 10 loss to the Colts.

He threw an interception there, but he figures to get a long run to show what he can do this week.
