As sea levels rise around the world, Miami faces an urgent need to adapt.

As property investors turn their sights inland, residents of the exclusive low-lying coastal area, above sea level, say rising rents are forcing them out of their homes.

Little Haiti, located five miles from luxury Miami Beach, is home to many blacks and has been under threat for some time.

Housing advocate Renita Holmes works to build a stronger future for her and her neighbors.

“This is a beautiful place, and developers are selling this tropical lifestyle,” she said. “So they build and we go out.”
