CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – The Conway community all played a part in Small Business Saturday, as dozens of residents and visitors strolled through local shops on Saturday.

“We bought a few things in here and it was only like 40 bucks,” Katrina Blizzard said. “It was a very good deal.”

Blizzard, a mother of five, said she understands the value of people in the city working from the ground up.

On the heels of Black Friday, she was set to pay as part of Small Business Saturday.

“I’m not a big spender per se, but if it’s worth it, yes, we want to take advantage of the deals and support the locals,” she says.

It’s something that both businesses and the Conway community are taking advantage of.

Offering 3D and 4D ultrasounds, the staff at Heritage Baby View is witnessing first-hand with the Baby and Women’s Boutique.

“The foot traffic, oh my God, it’s crazy,” said Gabby Moore, who works at the store. “It was great. On Saturdays, when we usually don’t have an appointment, it’s a little slower, but people were waiting outside at 9:50 and we open at 10.”

Other shoppers, like Jeff Ventola, said the variety of good restaurants is what brought him to Conway. He said the opportunity for Small Business Saturday isn’t just about letting people explore the city.

“We’re getting a lot of new small businesses here that we didn’t know about,” he said. Especially a nice little community like Conway is very attractive to us. It is very attractive. It is my favorite hometown as a child.”

Staff at The Haberdashery Gentleman’s Clothiers are now celebrating 35 years as part of a thriving town and say they feel the same way.

“I think it brings awareness to people that we’re here and we need your business to stay in business,” said Haberdashery employee Tracy Pickens. “For the most part, we know that the dollar you spend here stays here.”

Blizzard Whether it’s exploring the area or getting some time with the whole family, support goes a long way.

“I think it’s important to like to get out of the house and see what’s around you, and you know what kind of support you have for the people who build your community,” she says.
