Edward Mills

Edward J. Mills, 72, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 23rd surrounded by his loving family after a 14 year battle with cancer and declining health.

He is the husband of Cindy (Bulger) Mills, and the father of Samantha Mills Gaya and Hal’s husband Shanti Gaya, Kimberly Mills Booker and husband Michael Booker of Hanover, Edward Mills and wife Angela Mills of Virginia, Patrick Mills and husband Renan Silveira of New York, Matthew Mills and wife Allison Mason Mills of Douglas, Noah Mills of Hopkinton, Alexandria Mills Bernard and husband Corey Bernard of Webster, and Joshua Mills of Ware. He was the loving grandfather of Jackson Booker, Liam Booker, Henry Mills, Charles Mills and Jovi Mills, Gaia, and brother of Thomas Mills Jr., Rebecca Melvin, Daphen Staunton, Francis Mills, Michael Mills, Hilda Pamil and Timothy Mills. Ed is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Thomas and Daphine (McLaughlin) Mills.

Ed enjoyed being active in local politics and was on the Board of Assessors for the Town of Hopkinton for many years. Retired from the MBTA as a streetcar and bus driver, Ed has spent the past four decades running the Boston Mills imprint. He loved talking to everyone he met and could make friends with everyone with a smile and conversation. He always cracked a joke. Ed cherished his friends and family and will be missed by all who knew him.

The funeral will take place on Saturday, December 2, at 9:30 am. Callanan Cronin Funeral Home, 34 Church Street. A funeral service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Parish at 10:30 a.m. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, December 1st from 4-7pm.
