Georgia volleyball snapped a three-match losing streak on Friday, Nov. 17, with a four-game winning streak against South Carolina. Cassie Evans, who graduated out of the tournament, became the fifth player in program history to score her 2,000th point in the game.

Georgia opened the game with a 7-3 lead before South Carolina rallied to go up 8-7. After a back-and-forth affair, Georgia led 18-17 and went on a 4-0 run to take a 22-17 lead. The Bulldogs finished the game 25-23.

Redshirt freshman Anna Julia Blaker went on a nine-point service run to start the second set and put Georgia on a 9-1 run. South Carolina didn’t hold back this time, and Georgia took it 25-19.

South Carolina got a shot in the third set and led the entire frame. The Gamecocks went wire-to-wire to win 25-18.

Georgia came back strong in the fourth set, leading by six before the media timeout. Senior Sophie Fisher recorded her 20th kill of the night and Evans’ ace put them up 22-15 and sparked a South Carolina break.

After the timeout, South Carolina won seven of the next nine points to tie the game at two. However, a 22nd kill from Fisher sealed the set and the match for Georgia.
