KInnette Kleinberg He is a founding partner of Century City. Kleinberg Lange Cuddy & Carlo LLP where he serves as a senior partner.

Kleinberg advises on business negotiations and legal matters for a wide range of clients in the entertainment industry, including writers, directors, game designers, managers and more. His high-profile clients include JK Rowling and his license to make LEGO movies Warner Bros.

Please tell us about your profession. b For example, what kinds of jobs have you held before and how did they lead you to this job? What are your current job duties and how long have you held them?

I am an entertainment attorney practicing in Los Angeles and a partner in a boutique law firm with five other attorneys. My work includes legal and business advice to clients in the entertainment and media businesses. In 1967, I began working as a law clerk at the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, DC. I became a partner in that firm in 1974 and worked there until 1985. After that time, I left the practice of law to serve as president and chief operating officer of an independent motion picture and television production company.

I re-established my law practice in 1992, founding Kleinberg Lange Cuddy & Carlo LLP. My current work involves advising and counseling a variety of individuals and companies in entertainment and media, including actors, writers, directors, producers, composers and songwriters.

How many hours do you work each week?

I don’t have minimum or maximum hours that I work each week. My workload depends on the volume of work generated by my clients.

Most people are still working well past retirement age. why?

My job is very interesting and fun. Among other things, my clients are some of the most creative people in the world of performing and visual arts.

What’s the best part about working in the 80s?

My job is very stimulating and offers many opportunities to be a problem solver for my clients, which is endlessly fascinating and challenging.

And the worst?

Disappointment resulting from failure to achieve the client’s objectives due to events or problems beyond my control.

Have you slowed down or are you still putting in the usual number of hours?

I am somewhat close because of my age due to my experience with covid two years ago.

Do you think you will ever retire? If so, how old are you?

Yes. I will retire when I decide that I am no longer effective enough to do the best possible job for the client. I did not establish a “retirement age”.

If you were to retire, what would you do with your time?

I spend a lot of time with my family, traveling and spending time with my philanthropic efforts related to the development of UKRO activities.University Kidney Research Institute) I co-founded a 501(c)(3) medical research public charity.

What advice would you give to someone considering continuing to work past retirement age?

The answer to this question is completely dependent on the situation of the individual in question and the nature of their actions. It is not something that one can generally advise.

Knowing what you know now, if you could do it over again, what would you do differently in your career?

I would probably prefer to pursue a career in politics where there are no good people. I am concerned about the dire lack of honest and responsible leaders in the political arena and feel that average citizens should do more than talk about it. The future depends on the quality of people who seek and take responsibility in the governance of a functioning democracy.

What is one of the biggest lessons you’ve learned during your career?

It is important to provide advice that is informed and objective, and not unduly influenced by external factors that may ultimately be detrimental to the client. At the top of the list are recognizing and avoiding potential conflicts of interest and complying with the rules of professional conduct applicable to lawyers.
