Hall & Oates singer Daryl Hall’s temporary restraining order blocks bandmate John Oates’ planned business sale

Hall & Oates singer Daryl Hall’s temporary restraining order has prevented bandmate John Oates from completing the sale of his stake in the band’s business, FOX Business can confirm.

After attempting to initiate arbitration on Nov. 9, Hall sought to file a separate lawsuit and sought a temporary restraining order preventing Oates from selling its stake in Total Oats Enterprises. The business is run by both musicians.

A Nov. 17 temporary restraining order prohibits Oates from selling his stake in Main Wave Music until an arbitrator rules or the temporary restraining order expires, according to court documents obtained by FOX Business.

The original complaint, along with other court documents related to the case, remains under seal. In supporting the publication of certain records, Hall’s attorneys argued that it was a private dispute under a confidentiality agreement regarding the confidential arbitration process.

Neither Hall nor OAT representatives immediately responded to a request for comment from FOX Business.

The legal battle began on Nov. 16 when he sued Oate in Nashville, Tennessee, according to court documents. The lawsuit is sealed by court order, but is listed in the contract/debt category. The temporary restraining order was issued on November 24.

The two men formed a pop rock band Hall & Oates In the year During the 1970s, and although they never officially broke up, both Hall and Oath had been pursuing solo careers for years.

Hall made it clear in a 2022 interview that there was a rift between him and Oyat.

“You think John Oates is my partner? … He’s my business partner,” Hall said during the presentation. Bill Maher “Club Random” podcast. “He’s not my creative partner.”

“John and I are brothers, but we’re not creative brothers. We’re business partners. We did the ‘Hall & Oates’ record together, but we’ve always been very separate, and that’s something that’s very important to me.”

Hall used the example of the band’s song “Kiss on My List” to prove just how different the two are. While Oyat is listed as a co-producer on the track, he is not listed as a songwriter.

“I did all that [harmonies]”Hol said it’s just me.”

Hall & Oates released their debut album, “Whole Oats” in 1972. Since their debut, they have released 18 studio albums and scored six No. 1 singles. Some of the biggest hits from Hall and Oates include “Rich Girl”, “Maneater” and “You Make My Dreams”.

According to Variety, the two toured together as recently as October 2022.
