Shoppers in the Hudson Valley are encouraged to visit and shop at their local stores for Small Business Saturday following one of the biggest shopping days of the year.

At Antiques Masters in Nayak, customers can find almost any trinket or vintage they can imagine.

“I tell people, ‘Don’t rush, take it easy, and find what you really want,'” said Terry Mahmoud, owner of Antique Masters.

Mahmoud said the unique items she sells make for great gifts. That’s one reason she encourages shoppers to support companies like hers this Small Business Saturday.

“You go into the store again and again and you find the same thing. You find things in here that you don’t have anywhere else,” Mahmoud said.

Mahmoud also worked to increase the sales of other entrepreneurs in the area. This year she partnered with Cappy McSherry to host a trunk show in the back of her antique shop.

“It starts today and goes away tomorrow,” McSherry said.

Shopper Mimi Davidson was spotted trying on a pearl piece there. She thinks shopping from a mom-and-pop shop benefits the community.

“When we all participate in things like Small Business Saturday, it helps the whole economy,” Davidson said.
