HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Weapons) – Dozens of people showed up Saturday to support and shop locally for small businesses, especially in downtown Huntsville on Clinton Row.

Between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Small Business Saturday is a shopping mecca where the community has an opportunity to check out local products and support locally owned shops.

The impact of Small Business Saturday was felt by many local business owners, including Jill Mojana Mojana soaps and Ashley Ingram of AM common.

Mojana emphasized that her soap company would be nothing without the support of local consumers.

“Everyone is so supportive, not just in Huntsville. [all] of Alabama and we are very grateful,” Mojana said. “Our family is so grateful, we can’t thank everyone enough. Our dreams are nothing without you.

A similar theme is sung by Ashley Ingram, one of the co-founders of AM Collective Shop, which specializes in unique vintage finds from clothing to record collections. She said the community’s desire to support local businesses, especially the day after Black Friday, is huge not only for her company, but for others as well.

The event took place in Nov. 25 in downtown Huntsville.

“Black Friday has really been up a notch the last couple of years,” Ingram said. “I think people really think about where they spend their money and who they support.”

Encouraging where people spend their money is a great opportunity for local places like Mojana Soap and AM Collective to gain more interest in the community.

So next time you shop, check out locally owned businesses in the Tennessee Valley. Not only can you help a local business, but you can also learn more about the community.
