In Our Opinion: Give to the Ukiah Food Bank

0 21

Today we kick off our annual Holiday Food Bank Fund Drive with a goal of $100,000, the same as last year. We have generous donors who have donated $56,683 to this year’s trip.

TR Eriksen Foundation, $40,000; Redwood Credit Union, $5,000; Robert & Susan Hardy, $3,000; Mabel Albertson Foundation Fund, $2,000; George and Ruth Bradford Foundation, $2,000; Mendocino County Savings Bank, $1,783.00; Rick and Colleen Henderson, $1,000; Gay Coffey, $500; McCarty’s Auto Body, $500; JT & Jacqueline Williams, $500; Patricia Guntley, $250; Steve & Cynthia John, $100; Jason and Brandy Page, $50.

We started the food bank journey in the summer of 1986 because we recognized the important service the food bank provides to this community every day and especially during the holiday season. Our community has come a long way, year after year, allowing us to reach our goals and keep the food bank running, the refrigerators running, the vans picking up donated food, and even today we pay a small staff of just two people.

With the help of all of you who donate each year, the Food Bank is able to improve its services and offerings and remain the only source of food for seniors, working families, veterans and people with disabilities. Times of the month or every week. The food bank is also improving the content of the food it offers.

Thank you in advance for your donation. No donation is too small. To show our appreciation, as we do every year, we will publish each donor’s name in the newspaper to let their neighbors know how generous the community is.

To donate, send your check or money order to Ukiah Food Bank, c/o Ford Street at 139 Ford Street, Ukiah, 95482.
