Rafah:
Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters handed over dozens of hostages to the Red Cross in Gaza on Tuesday, an AFP reporter said, as part of a deal-making deal in the protracted truce between Israel and Hamas.
The Israeli hostages, all women, were handed over by masked and armed fighters, some from Hamas and others from Islamic Jihad, to Red Cross officials in Rafah near the border with Egypt, the journalist said.
Shortly thereafter, the Israeli military said in a statement that “according to information received from the Red Cross, 12 hostages – 10 Israelis and two foreigners – are on their way to Israeli territory.”
The release of the two foreign hostages comes in addition to the release of 10 Israelis under the deal.
