Japan’s space agency was hit by a cyberattack this summer, and sensitive data on space-related technology may have been exposed, Kyodo news agency reported Wednesday.
Police learned of the attack this fall and notified the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Kyodo reported. The Yomiuri newspaper first reported the incident.
A JAXA spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment when contacted by Reuters.
Japan’s space agency didn’t know about the cyber attack until it received it from police, Kyodo reported.
