New York Jets Running back Brace Hall He has now fallen victim to the Jets’ recent offensive struggles, failing to clear 30 rushing yards in three straight games. Most of Hall’s yardage has come through the air in the past month, and he hasn’t scored a point on the ground since Oct. 15.

Following a 25-yard rushing performance in the 34-13 Black Friday loss Miami Dolphins, Jets head coach Robert Saleh offered some criticism for the star’s back. Saleh said that Hall is a “special talent” but “there are tough yards that one needs to find a back.” in athletics. Instead of trying to hit a home run every attempt, Saleh wants Hall to focus on some tough yards.

“Now when you’re pressing, you’re trying to create explosive (plays) everywhere, and most of the time in the NFL, the O-line is going to block it for two or three (yards) and that’s it. You’ve got to look for four or five,” Saleh said. Conference call on Saturday. “And that means putting your shoulders down, getting dirty, flirting, finishing the run — and not always looking for ways to make people miss the line of cruelty because these guys are hunting.”

This season, Hall has a career-high 889 yards rushing and four touchdowns in 11 games. As a rookie phenom, Hall racked up 681 passing yards and five touchdowns before tearing his ACL in Week 7. In fact, entering Week 12, he ranked fifth in most yards rushing after contact (3.25).

Hall probably feels he needs to hit every touchdown with a home run, because he’s New York’s most valuable weapon on its statistically horrendous offense. Last year’s No. 36 overall pick from Iowa State scored 40% of the Jets’ offensive touchdowns this season!

Salih’s comment is surprising. Quarterback play, offensive line play and play calling have all hurt the Jets this season. Hall is not trying to do something.
