It was a special honor for Selmari Bakery to close recently after 40 years in business. The owners started the company when they were 29 years old.

His wife, Brigitte Kobayashi, said: “It’s time to take a break. I want to do other things. Like everyone else, I want to spend more time with my husband.”

Mayor Brandon Johnson was in attendance, greeting staff and longtime customers. There were merry Christmas carols and the sounds of the Lincoln Square Christmas tree lighting to ring in the holidays.
