Dean Burmester may not qualify for next summer’s Open Championship in his world rankings, but after Sunday, he doesn’t need to.

LIV Golf also dropped to No. 154 in the Official World Golf Ranking 60 at the end of last year due to still not receiving World Ranking points for the tournament, which was banned earlier this year because of format issues.

With the Joburg Open sponsored by the DP World and Sunshine Tours, Burmester was able to compete in one of a dozen national freebies. With the win, he becomes the second active LIV player to win on the DPWT, following Cam Smith’s Australian PGA win last year.

Runner-up Darren Fichardt and third Dan Bradbury were the other two open qualifiers.
