Ukrainian officials did not immediately acknowledge the attack, which came a day after Russia targeted the Ukrainian capital with more than 60 Iranian-made Shahed drones.

Debris from crashed drones

At least five civilians were injured in the hours-long attack, which left several buildings damaged by debris from downed drones, including a kindergarten.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said the wounded included an 11-year-old child.

The attack was the largest air attack on Kiev in the war so far, Kyiv city administration chief Serhiy Popko said Saturday.

Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat confirmed that air defenses hit 66 air targets in and around the capital of Ukraine in the early hours of the morning.

The attack on Kiev took place on the morning of Holodomor Remembrance Day, the man-made famine that killed millions of Ukrainians in Soviet Ukraine from 1932 to 1933, and is observed on the fourth Saturday in November.
