Omaha’s Holiday Lights Festival shines bright on Small Business Saturday

OMOHA, Neb. (WOW) – Live music, singing and lots of holiday cheer took place at Jin Leahy Mall Saturday night for the annual Festival of Holiday Lights.

Around the mall, in Old Market and parts of North and South Omaha, tree lights come up for a seasonal display.

“I’m really trying to bring our city and different communities together,” said event marketing coordinator Maggie Winton. That’s a really special part of the Holiday Lights Festival.

“Because this whole holiday season of lights, supporting Omaha, supporting downtown and all of that, Small Business Saturday is a perfect day to do that because all of our local businesses in the area are open, which might not be on Thanksgiving,” he said.

Jennifer Kitzman was in the audience, saying it was the first time she and her children had attended since moving to Omaha from Ottawa, Illinois, last year. She said it will help to make the most of this exciting time.
