Recently to a Gabriel IglesiasKnown by his stage name Fluffy, on October 27th with two friends at a show in Evansville, Indiana.Th To share an evening full of laughter and fun. His humor kept the crowd entertained and engaged. My friends and I had a blast. After that, I realized how good it feels to laugh. If you haven’t been to a comedy show before, this summer is the perfect time to hit it up.

I first learned about Fluffy while watching a comedy special on Netflix with my dad and stepmom. His jokes were funny as a kid and still make me laugh today. My friends’ introductions were similar to mine, and seeing his live show felt like a full-circle life time for both of us.

If you can coordinate it, I suggest going to a comedy show with friends. It’s a great shared experience and keeps the jokes going after the show. But if that doesn’t work, it’s okay to go it alone. You will still laugh and enjoy the show. It’s dark in the audience anyway.

After the Fluffy show, I find that when I leave a place after a comedy show, I feel better than when I arrived. I feel lighter and more relaxed. After all, there is a reason — laughter can reduce stress. As of 2011 Mayo Clinic Laughter slows down your stress response and increases your heart rate and blood pressure. In addition to reducing stress, laughter improves mood, immunity and helps reduce pain. After all, laughter is great medicine.

Luckily, you don’t have to go to Evansville to experience some of the best comedians working today. Every week, Funny Attic Bloomington attracts some of the best comedy talent in the country. All-time greats such as Tig Notaro, Hannibal Buress, Marc Maron and John Mulaney have performed at the venerable comedy club. It even hosts comedy acts. Limestone comedy festival Bringing top talent to town every year.

Can’t make it live? We also live in an age where comedy can be viewed on our televisions, phones and computers in seconds thanks to YouTube or Netflix. I prefer going to live shows for the energy and the jokes are more punchy, but when you want a good laugh, a comedy special can be a good substitute.

Life can be hard and stressful. We have a lot to worry about and can feel a lot. Laughter helps us get through difficult times, reduce stress, and make lasting memories with friends. Next time you need a study break or weekend plans, find a comedy show and let your laughter last a while. You’ll feel better afterwards.
