BOSTON – Surveillance video obtained by Boston 25 shows a rock passing through the window at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse in Boston.

“It was widespread in the city, so I don’t think it was targeted at all,” said Andrew Diso, general manager of Wolfgang’s Steakhouse.

D’Iso said the crime was caught on the restaurant’s surveillance video. And while it may not be Target, he says it will cost thousands to repair the boarded-up window now.

Boston police say this is one of several gang-related shootings over the weekend, and prosecutors say many of the incidents were caught on camera.

“He took bricks and stones and threw them at businesses and windows and doors,” said prosecutor Samuel Jones.

Lawrence Hawkins, 46, was charged with the crime. Police said it included a florist and plate glass front door at the JFK and O’Neill federal buildings.

In court on Monday, prosecutors said the estimated cost to replace the damaged glass would be between $20,000 and $30,000.

Hawkins is accused of throwing a brick at a Holocaust memorial and damaging it.

The campaign of destruction did not end there. Prosecutors said he damaged graves, 14 at the Granary Burying Ground, including Paul Revere’s, and six more next to King’s Chapel Cemetery.

That’s around the corner from Wolfgang.

“We were surprised. We love being in the middle of Boston. So we were a little bit thrown off,” DeIso said.

Prosecutors said Hawkins had a long history of mental illness and was known to police.

And their own lawyers said they don’t even understand the charges against them.

“Let’s just say that trying to interview him is less than effective,” said defense attorney Robert Glozer.

Hawkins was held on bail and ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
