Virginia Bellino 1926-2023

LIBERTY – Virginia DeLuco Bellino, 97, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, November 21, 2023 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Virginia was born Jan. 28, 1926, in Youngstown, the daughter of Anthony and Esperina Worelia DeLuco, and was affectionately called “Tootsie” by everyone.

She was a 1945 graduate of East High School and a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley.

After graduation. Tootsie was employed for many years at Wells Department Store with the Mahoning National Bank Bond Window in Downtown Youngstown.

Virginia married the love of her life, Francis “Chick” Bellino, on June 7, 1947 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in a ceremony officiated by Monsignor Vito Franco. Together they raised a family and were blessed with more than 73 years of wonderful memories together until his death, October 19, 2020.

Tootsim was also a proud homemaker, which brought her great joy. She centered her life around her family and always put them first. Tootsie loved spoiling all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren like Grammy. She was a wonderful baker and cook, and her family will miss her pizzas along with the great Italian dishes she prepared.

Virginia was a lifelong member of Mount Carmel Church. For many years she has participated in the novena, which lasts for 13 consecutive Tuesdays, and has a special devotion to St. Anthony of Padua, whose feast is always celebrated on June 13.

Tootsie had a lot of fun in her life. She looks forward to playing cards with the ladies of the longtime card club, which she has done for many years.

Tootsie leaves behind her, two children, Nicholas (Marlene) Bellino and Cathy (Joseph) LaRocca, both of Liberty to hold on to precious memories; her four grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica) Bellino, Dr. Nicholas Bellino, Nicole (Mark) Schroedel and Jennifer (Joe) Paris; eight grandchildren, Nixon, Silvio, Camryn, Carson, Sienna, Anella, Gianna and Nico; and many nieces and nephews who knew her as “Aunt Tots.” with relatives and friends.

Virginia is now reunited with her parents, Anthony and Esperina DeLuco; her loving husband, Francis; infant grandchild; sister Mary Ann (Sam) Mortellaro; brother Francis (Lucille) DeLuco; and her father- and mother-in-law, Nicola and Rose Bellino.

Family and friends will visit Monday, November 27, 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:20 pm at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St. Borman, with a prayer service at 12:25 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Mount Carmel Ave., Youngstown. Directed by Michael J. Cariglio.

Burial will follow her husband in Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
