Maricar Mendoza is the San Francisco Chronicle’s senior arts and entertainment editor, where she directs daily coverage and audience engagement for Datebook and datebook.sfchronicle.com.

Prior to The Chronicle, Maricar was the digital editor for the Los Angeles News Group, helping to cover major pop culture moments in the region, from Coachella and Comic-Con to the Emmys and Oscars. She has also worked as a multimedia news reporter for several publications in the state.

Marikar currently serves as Vice President of the San Francisco-Bay Area Chapter of the Association of Asian American Journalists and is the Executive Director of the AAJA Features Forum, a group dedicated to providing programming, services and features to journalists in the arts, entertainment and lifestyle industries. Color.

Maricar is a native of the Bay Area and is happy to be back home.
